Tonight we’ve released some changes that I think everyone will appreciate.

First up, bulk editing (checkboxes) in the My Price Watches listing page is back!  It is now easier to change the desired price of a bunch of products or delete multiple price watches, just check the products you want to modify and click the corresponding button at the top of the page, of which there are three: “Edit”, which lets you reset the desired price of all selected products to the same value; “$ - 1”, which resets the desired price to the current price of each product minus one, a useful feature if you like tracking any downward movement in a price; and “Delete”, which disables the selected price watches.  We plan on upgrading the “Edit” feature soon, to accomodate for setting the desired price as a percentage of the current price.

The other primary change for this update is that we have a new product browser.  The search engine has been reworked and the content simplified, and we think it will provide much more relevant results with less waiting on the page to load.  The goal here was to make it easy to refine your search and find the product you want, so we’ve added links beneath each product title; click those and your search results will be restricted to items matching that value.  You can select more than one value at a time, too.  If you want to back out / get rid of a search refinement, you can find the active “filters” near the header of the page; clicking one of these links will remove its value from your search refinements, producing more search results.  There’s also a little bit of gloss around the site, as we added popular products and search terms to the product browser page.  We think it makes the product browser index page a feel more alive!

As for bugs, there was a broken link in some of our emails that a couple of users reported (thank you!) which has been fixed.  Please note: searching in the product browser isn’t perfect yet…it’s the kind of situation where you get 95% of the way there and then have to sit and tweak the search engine to get the last 5% of the issues resolved.  At the moment, the main problem is with searches containing the dash character; “12345-32” would return no results whereas “12345” would return products.  This will be fixed soon.  The best way to search for a product is to use the URL of the product page at Amazon (or Newegg or wherever.)

Please report any bugs you find!  Your emails and forum posts are precious to us, Gollum-style.
